It was a real privilege meeting FFI's Tuy Sereivathana, who was recently awarded the Goldman Environmental Prize for his work addressing human-elephant conflict in Cambodia. Unfortunately I fear I did not have quite the same impact on him, especially after having come straight from meeting president Obama in Washington!Vathana, also known as "Uncle Elephant", was one of the first Cambodian ambassadors to meet the president. He hopes that this will help draw attention to the plight of the endangered Asian elephant, within the US and across the world.
